James 5:13-18
What Does Prayer And Oil Have To Do With Healing?, Pt. 2

Today, we come to part 2 of this section in James on healing. This is one of the most misunderstood, misused and abused passages in Scripture. James' text is an attack on modern faith healers and their manipulation of the weak, sick, and naive. They are prey on those needing someone to pray for them the way James states. James is attempting to enourage the weary, worn-out and fatigued Jewish Christians who were being hunted down by both Rome and Saul. And as a result, they have developed some pyschomatic illnesses from unconfessed and unrepentant sin. This is not about illnesses from the flu or the bug, but real illnesses from guilt and shame from unconfessed and repentant sin. This is not for the dying, but for the living. It is about prayer and praise.
