Today we look at a very tough subject in the Book of James: Quarrels and fights in the church. The background to this text is Jesus' words in Matthew 5:21-22. Jesus says that unjust and unrestrained anger causes murder. It does not have to be actual physical murder. We can murder a person's reputation. We can murder their character. We can cause a person who is new to their faith or a church to leave their church and even their faith. Just like Jesus expounded on adultery can occur with just thoughts rather than a physical act, so can murder. Today we look a the causes for quarrels and fights in our relationships and next week we will look at the cure.
