Today we start a new sermon series on the life of Ruth, who has a whole book of the Bible named after her. Though there are only 85 verses in this book, it is loaded with several themes. The first theme is God's providence. God's purpose and will get accomplished no matter what. This book introduces us to a second theme in which we get to see the first application of a passage from Leviticus 25:48-49 -- the kinsman Redeemer. The Book of Ruth introduces us to a third theme-- "chesed" -- God's undeserved grace, God's undeserved favor.
