Congratulations. You are well on your way to the weekend. Today is Thursday and today we are going to look at the subject of wisdom. James 1:5 says, “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him” (NASB). This is a promise from God that all of us need to ask God to do in our lives each and every day – give us wisdom. Solomon the Bible says is the wisest man ever to have lived not counting Jesus. He oozed with wisdom and people were amazed at the wisdom God gave him.
The Bible says in Proverbs 24:3-4, “By wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established; (4) And by knowledge the rooms are filled, With all precious and pleasant riches” (NASB). When we’re old enough to leave our parents’ household, we have to make decisions about the priorities of our new life and home. When I lived in my parents’ home, I abided by their rules out of love and respect for them. But when I left home for college, I had to decide how I would live on my own. I was a Christian, but now I would live out my faith in my own space, beginning with my dorm room.
My mother was diligent about serving God in her home, but I would make my own decisions from that point forward. That’s just the beginning. We will need to make that decision many times in our lives. Will we fill our home with the wisdom of God and the understanding that it gives? Will our conversations fill the rooms with the knowledge of God that ushers in rare and beautiful treasures? Our houses may have firm physical foundations, but our spiritual walls are being built and reinforced day after day—so let’s build wisely.
“In an age with AI (artificial intelligence) coming of age, we now have AI robots in countries that dispense spiritual wisdom. While on the surface may seem like a good idea, it removes God completely from the situation. In India they have an AI Buddhist Robot that will recite their Buddhist wisdom to you. In China, they have an AI robot named Xian’er, which is a touchscreen “robo-monk” who works in a temple near Beijing, spreading “kindness, compassion and wisdom to others through the internet and new media.” In a Catholic church in Warsaw, Poland, sits SanTO, an AI robot which looks like a statue of a saint, and is “designed to help people pray” by offering Bible quotes in response to questions.
Japan has a Buddhist AI robot monk named Mindar, who recites Buddhist sutras with which it has been programmed. Not to be outdone, a protestant church in Germany has developed a robot called BlessU-2. BlessU-2, which looks like a character designed by Aardman Animations, can “forgive your sins in five different languages,” which must be handy if they’re too embarrassing to confess to a human.” (Source: Paul Kinsnorth, “The Neon God: Four Questions Concerning the Internet, part one,” The Abbey of Misrule Substack, 4-26-23).”
Can you imagine going through a drive-window and talking to an AI robot at your local church for spiritual wisdom or entering the building and going up to one for spiritual wisdom rather than one of your brother/sisters or ministerial staff? While this may seem strange or odd to us, it is simply another form or way man is creating their own version of God in man’s own image. Each of these AI robots is built and programmed by a human. Instead of going to God for wisdom, we can now go to an AI robot who has God in the image and way we desire, thinking it can give us spiritual wisdom. So, where can spiritual wisdom be found? God and the Scriptures. Senior Lead Pastor and author Anthony Delaney writes:
“We are told this is the Knowledge Economy. The Information Age. But where is wisdom to be found? Great question – where is wisdom to be found? Google it. I did. You could do it too. Guess what came up as the top answer? In fact, as I type into Google, “Where is wisdom to be found?” I scroll down and just keep rolling - and every answer, the first 25 at least – come from the Bible. From the Book of Job 28:12, that says, “But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?,” NASB). Google can’t tell you the answer, but it can tell you where to find it, in God’s Word” (Source: Google Search, “Where is wisdom to be found?,” Accessed 5-30-24).
Jesus said, “Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock” (Matthew 7:24). Let’s build wisely by listening to Jesus and obeying His Word.
Questions To Consider
Scripture To Meditate On: Proverbs 3:5-7, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And do not lean on your own understanding. (6) In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. (7) Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil” (NASB).
Prayer To Pray: “Heavenly Father, thank You for helping Your people establish holy homes where You are the owner and not a guest. May I build up every aspect of my dwelling as a place for You to inhabit and rest—a home filled with the knowledge of You and Your peace. Help me Jesus to go to You and Your Word for wisdom for my decisions. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
I love you Southside!--Pastor Kelly
