Daily Devotional For Sunday, July 19, 2026
Good morning Southside! It’s Sunday and I pray you are to worship the Lord with other believers today because our God is worth it. Our daily devotional is from Psalm 135:1-3:
“Praise the LORD! Praise the name of the LORD! Praise him, you who serve the LORD, (2) you who serve in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God. (3) Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; celebrate His lovely name with music.”
This psalm begins with reminding us to praise the Lord. We are to praise His name because His name is both holy and powerful. At the name of Jesus the demons tremble. Read the Gospels – when Jesus encountered someone possessed by a demon or demons, they were terrified of Him. Worship in Jesus’ time was exciting and invigorating. People sang. They danced. They played musical instruments – all to the glory of God. When you go to worship today, will you give God your best or will you hold back giving the impression God is not worth your worship?
Do not worry about what others think because you are not there for them. You are there only for an audience of One – Jesus Christ. After all He has done for you in giving you salvation, eternal life, a purpose for living and an abundant life, praise Him.
Reflection Assignment: When you are in church, do you hold back or do you praise? If you watch sports, are you more involved in supporting your team than you are the Lord in worship? In most churches, worship is dead. It has nothing to do with the style of music. Most Christians act as if our God is not worth it. Would you choose to make a difference this Sunday or any Sunday for the Lord?
Scripture To Meditate On: Psalm 147:1, “Praise the LORD! How good to sing praises to our God! How delightful and how fitting!” (NLT).
Prayer To Pray: “Lord, I am going to give You my all in worship. I am so sorry when I hold back. Thank You that on the cross You did not hold back – You gave Your all. I love You Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen!”
